Julie and Michael exude everything right about a relationship destined for The Golden Years. They’re wild about each other. Comfortable together like a child and a old tattered blanket. They’re each other’s biggest foam-finger-waving fan, and for good reason. Julie is a talented, emerging photographer (check out her blog!), and Michael’s culinary skills are on the level of a gourmet chef. Both are on the edge of something wonderful with their respective creativity, and the months ahead will surely define their pursuits : )
Although they tied the knot a couple of years ago, they contacted me with an unusual request. Their wedding was photographed by a well-meaning family member, but, well, you know how it goes. We clicked immediately during our first meeting and I found myself wishing I could’ve been there for them two years ago. We batted around a few location possibilities, eventually deciding on the San Diego Convention Center with it’s striking architecture and dramatic sweeping lines. But when portrait day arrived, a coastal fog rolled in shortly after we began shooting, obscuring the late afternoon light and stealing away the day’s warmth. Troopers that they are, Julie and Michael were undaunted. We shot through the cool, misty air, the natural rythym of husband and wife unfolding easily before my lens as if to say, This is my friend, my lover, my soulmate.
