Holly and Jamil’s likeability factor is off the charts. I challenge anyone to spend five minutes with these two and walk away without concurring. It’s hard not to get drawn in by Holly’s big blue, feline-like eyes and seemingly vulnerable demeanor. And then there’s Jamil who wrote the definitive handbook on Nice. When we first met and he mentioned that he was a pediatrician, I thought to myself, well of course, how perfect. And you could easily converse with these two for hours! They’re the kind of people who’ll give you their full, undeterred attention. As I’m the kind of guy who’ll ignore a phone call when I’m talking with someone, this is a desirable quality that scores really big with me.
The Estancia La Jolla was the venue for their colorful outdoor wedding, with the vibrant florals courtesy of Adrian Smith Floral Design. Holly and Jamil graced the day with their uniquely elegant touch. Holly’s simple yet sensual wedding dress set off her ethnic beauty and silky-soft brown hair. Kudos to make-up artist Amanda Bliss of Melissa Rae & Co. for highlighting Holly’s natural beauty. Jamil’s dark Tanzanian handsomeness was perfectly complimented with a crisp ivory linen suit. Together, the two were absolutely striking, blending naturally with the landscape, architecture and color scheme of the beautiful Estancia.
But their wedding day wasn’t all about looking stylishly perfect, it was about a joyful celebration with people who touch their lives. Following a roaringly funny round of congratulatory speeches and toasts, I watched with pleasure as Holly and Jamil circulated through the tables, simply being their attentative, engaging selves. They seemed to communicate to everyone you are important in my life. Now who couldn’t love these two?
