I'm Nick Abadilla, and I work as a professional photographer based in San Diego, California. Here's a quick snapshot (pun intended) of my life …

I've been happily married to my lovely wife Nance for over 19 years, and together we raise our beautiful and vibrant daughter Sophie who gives us reason to smile and laugh each day. We've traveled the world as a family, and are all the better for it. Egypt, China, Japan, France, New Zealand, Turkey ... hmmm, where to next?

I started my business in 2002 following 20 intense but rewarding years in the graphic design industry. With corporate life behind me, I found myself doing a lot of really deep soul searching, ultimately realizing it was time to honor my long-time passion for photography. So with my wife's blessing, I wholeheartedly embraced it as a profession and haven't regretted it for a second. Working from a cozy 1,300 square foot studio in an otherwise ho-hum industrial park, I specialize in commercial assignment photography and lifestyle portraiture. My love for the craft will be evident once you step inside.

Our backyard isn’t the most pristine one in the neighborhood, but it’s inviting. Although winter-bare at the moment, there’s a shabby charm to it. I wouldn’t hesitate to have friends over to hang out. Often, before rousing Sophie up for school, I savor a few early morning minutes sipping coffee out here, cozy warm in my pajamas and fleece pullover. Quiet time to reflect on the new path I’ve taken for Nick Abadilla Photography. On top of the dedication to commercial assignment/portrait work, I’m also making the move to a larger studio (details to come). Am I doing the right thing? Will the plan work? Is it worth the risk? Concerns not uncommon to any business owner, but therein lies the drive to succeed.

Coffee thoughts for the soul …
